mechanical-seam-metal-roof-panelDo you know the difference between an architectual panel and a structural panel? What about architectual residential versus architectual commercial?

To simplify this topic we will consider the basic difference in panel types,: architectual panels act as water-sheding systems and structural panels act as water-tight systems.

There are over 6 different panel types that are offered by our metal roofing contractor but to share with you the most detail we are going to focus on one of the most popular panels for residential homes and low sloping roofs.

The Englert A1300 series offers the same architectural detailing capability as architectural snap-lock panels. However, smooth transitions from the roof surfaces to mansards, fascia, walls and soffits are done using the structural strength and weathertight advantages of a mechanically seamed system. (See image above for a cross section of the mechanical seam)

This panel is ideal for low sloping roofs that slant as little as 1/2 inch per foot! In addition the 1 1/2 inch seam is aesthetically appropriate for residential roofs.
