Underlayments are an essential part to any roofing system, especially metal roofing. The biggest mistake roofing contractors make is installing traditional shingle products for advanced roofing systems such as metal.

Ice and water shield and felt paper are both asphalt based products that have tiny particles that can scratch the metal roofing surface during installation. This particles can cause micro-abrasions on the metal’s kynar finish of your metal roof which can cause premature corrosion.
