Standing Seam Metal Roof Project in Wynnewood, PA 19096 by Global Home Improvement

For this project we removed 2 layers of asphalt and cedar shake and installed new 5/8 inch plywood on the entire home before installing a brand new Standing Seam Metal roof.  We used a 180 degree mechanically seamed panel spaced 16” apart for a historically accurate look.  This Main Line PA homeowner went with a Forrest Green Standing Seam Roof mixed with Metallic Copper Standing Seam for the dormer. The whole house then received half round gutters to match the Forrest Green metal roof. We also installed custom painted snow guards to complete the look of this Main Line Metal Roof.

Metal Roofing Tax Rebate for 2013

The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 includes a renewal of the tax credit for reflective metal roofing for 2013.  As stated by the Energy Star website the tax credit includes 10% of the material cost up to $500 for products installed before  December 31, 2013. This project features a home in Glenside PA that was having a world of trouble with their flat rubber roof. Their contemporary designed home was missing that wow factor from their roof in addition to insulation in their attic! When the homeowner approached us with the idea of creating a pitched hip roof, we knew we had to take the job. As you can see in the before and after the transformation is dramatic and the homeowner is thrilled with their “green” metal roof with snow guards for shedding snow. To start we teamed up with an architectural firm to create the roof drawings. From there we had our master framing crew, frame out the roof with 2 x 4′s and then sheathed it with 3/4 inch plywood. This standing seam metal roof renovation was completed in Buck’s county PA and transformed this quaint, secluded log cabin home into a rustic masterpiece.

The challenge of this project was flashing the metal roof into the existing log cabin siding without damaging the existing timber.
